Garden design process
The garden design process can vary depending on which stages you would like to go ahead with. The cost of the different stages will depend on the scale of the design. We’ll be able to give you an indication of cost once we have information about the size of your garden and what you would like to incorporate into the design.
-
Stage 1: Concept
We’ll have an introductory chat to find out if we’re the right fit for you and your garden. If you choose to go ahead we’ll visit you at your home to see your garden and talk through what you’d like from the design. The next step is to organise a survey, either carried out by us or a surveyor depending on the complexity of the garden. This, together with the agreed brief, will allow us to draw up an initial concept design which we’ll present to you in your home.
-
Stage 2: Detailed design
From the agreed concept plan we’ll create a detailed plan with all the core information required for the garden to be built.
-
Stage 3: Hard landscaping
Depending on the hard landscaping detail within the design we’ll produce any additional drawings the landscaping contractors will need to realise your design.
-
Stage 4: Planting plan
Based on the soil and aspect of your garden, we’ll create a detailed planting plan and a full list of the plants required. You will also receive a maintenance sheet for these plants to help you care for them as the garden develops.
-
Stage 5: Tender
You may have a preferred landscaper in mind but if not we can help recommend companies and arrange a tender process. We’ll create all the documents the landscaper will need to quote for the work, including the plans mentioned above, setting out drawings and a schedule of works.
-
Stage 6: Involvement during build
We are happy to visit the site regularly and liaise with the landscaping company to ensure the build is progressing in line with the design, and to help trouble shoot any issues that may arise.
Extras
In addition to the stages listed above we are able to help with other areas, including the following, working with other professionals where required:
Lighting
Irrigation
Sourcing and planting of trees and plants
3D and coloured visuals of your design
Bespoke woodwork
